Cut Costs and Fly Premium Economy for Corporate Travel
Corporate Travel Agency, BCD Travel Australia, says some Australian companies are beginning to book premium economy seating on corporate travel flights, as the cost of flying becomes more expensive with airlines passing on the higher cost of petrol to consumers through more expensive air fares.
When budgets permit, most executives want to fly in business class, especially on long haul flights. In business class, corporate travellers have their own flat bed for sleeping, much more leg room and a gourmet a la carte dining menu.
Premium economy does not offer flat beds but it does offer more room than regular economy flights, according to the Travel Management Company (TMC). It is therefore being seriously considered by companies looking to cut costs on corporate travel trips.
Virgin Blue launched a domestic premium economy class in response to this growing demand earlier this year. Virgin Blue said not only did Premium Economy offer more leg room, more comfortable and larger seating and priority check-in, the section was also positioned at the front of the plane, allowing busy corporate travellers to make a quick exit.
