New Qantas Lounges ready for businessadmin

Qantas has unveiled its plush new Domestic Business Class lounge in Sydney Airport, days before the official launch, which will follow with a similar opening in Melbourne later this month.

The new dedicated lounges, for Qantas Platinum members and business class travellers, will also be launched in Canberra in October, Perth in 2009, and was opened in Brisbane on Monday.

The substantial investment is part of the group’s ongoing strategy to provide a premium product for its most frequent business travellers, despite the current revenue crisis caused by continually increasing fuel costs, according to Executive General Manager, John Borghetti.

“Qantas is continuing to focus on product and customer service, he said.

Group General Manager Product & Service, Lesley Grant also added that further investments were being made into new innovations to provide business passengers with the ability to work on the ground and in the air.

This includes plans to offer a new check-in experience from 2009 at domestic airports and online, enhancing speed and ease, as well as a roll out of email and sms enabled aircraft, initially being looked at for flights from Perth to the east coast later this year.

This will allow passengers to use their devices to connect via their operator for access to services, allowing them to continue working during flights.

The new business class lounges will all include work suites, computer access and complimentary wireless internet, barista service, private shower suites, and a selection of hot and cold food.

The existing Qantas Club will be dedicated for Gold Frequent Flyers and customers with a Qantas Club membership.
