The world’s best corporate travel airports
Spending time at airports is part and parcel of corporate travel, although some airports are much more interesting than others!
The days of airports being as boring as bus stops are long gone – especially if you happen to be visiting any of the following airports voted among the world’s best for 2010 by Lonely Planet!
CHANGI AIRPORT, Singapore
It’s impossible to waste time at Changi, with many options available to corporate travellers needing to kill a few hours between business travel flights. There’s a free bus tour of the city, an on-site pool and the Transit Hotel, which allows corporate travellers to book rooms for a nap! A single room for a minimum of six hours costs S$35.
PRINCESS JULIANA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, St Maarten
At the tip of the runway is the beautiful Maho beach with crystal clear waters and 747s zooming in just a few hundred metres overhead! It’s a site to be seen!
Business travellers looking for an adrenaline-fuelled jetlag buster can hold onto a chain-link fence to feel the full force of the jet engines as the planes take off just over their heads.
INCHEON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, South Korea
A corporate travel paradise with lots of conference rooms, multimedia facilities, VIP lounges and wi-fi capability throughout. If work is the last thing on your mind, you can tour the on-site Korean Culture Centre instead.
DUBAI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, United Arab Emirates
It happens to have an air-strip, but is also a duty-free shopping mecca with almost two square kilometres of retail space. Corporate travellers should sleep on the plane in preparation for a shop-til-you-drop expedition inside the airport.
MUNICH AIRPORT, Germany
Business travellers wanting to ‘catch a show’ while they’re in town can do it without leaving the airport – an on-site cinema runs jet-themed movies all day. Alternatively, corporate travellers can practise putting at the miniature golf course, take a guided tour of the airport or check out the aircraft viewing platform.
