New travel cost reduction from vRoam partnershipadmin

A large but often hidden or underestimated category of international travel spend can now be dramatically reduced.

The third-largest area of travel spend is mobile phone usage whilst overseas. Corporate travellers are increasingly used to being contactable and in touch whilst travelling internationally and the preferred method is their mobile phone. Global Roaming (the technical term for using a GSM or 3G phone whilst travelling) is expensive with call prices high and usage increasing rapidly (Global Roaming usage is growing at 15% pa). Travellers can see bills of hundreds of dollars for even a short trip.

When Global Roaming, travellers have to pay to receive all calls, unlike home usage, and hidden costs can be extreme (an example is letting calls go to voicemail – the call is “tromboned” back to Australia causing costs to multiply).

BCD has now entered a partnership with vRoam Global, a niche travel-telecoms provider, to offer their LocalSIM service to BCD’s corporate clients. vRoam provides a SIM card for the travellers’ trips, giving around a 40% saving. Travellers have the added benefit of a local number in the country they are visiting – making it much easier and cheaper for their customers or suppliers to contact them.

Contact your BCD account manager for details on how easy it is to save mobile travel costs.
