Lower dollar, less overseas business travel
As the Australian dollar continues to hover around 60-70 cents against the US greenback, corporate travel agency, BCD Travel, expects fewer clients to consider overseas locations for meetings incentives conferences exhibitions (MICE) in 2009.
The strength of the Australian dollar is usually the main deciding factor in companies’ decisions on overseas business travel and events, but now, the weaker dollar combined with the global economic crisis has rendered overseas business travel and overseas meetings incentives conferences exhibitions (MICE) a real luxury in 2009.
BCD Travel says the best overseas destinations for companies that do want to hold meetings and incentives abroad are Trans-Tasman areas such as Asia and New Zealand, given their competitive markets.
